Hermersberg belongs since the municipal reform to the Verbandsgemeinde Waldfischbach-Burgalben and is with approx. 2000 inhabitants the largest place on the Sickinger height.
Hermersberg is located on a hill, surrounded by many beautiful valleys and hills, at 430 meters above sea level and can be reached from Pirmasens in northeastern and Kaiserslautern in southwestern direction in about 30 minutes.

Our hometown of the 20th century is in no way comparable to the place of the earlier years. The old Hermersberg was not a village of the rich people, but brought it some farmers, woolen or linen weavers to a certain prosperity, because the good farmland yielded a rich harvest. The flocks of sheep at that time also supplied good wool for the much sought after "Lauterer Tuch".

Over the centuries, a farming village - whose inhabitants used to produce mainly agricultural products in fertile farmland - became a village of commuters who now earn their living in many different professions.

The answer to the question "when" and "how" Hermersberg arose, can be brought only in connection with the settlement of Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl, Queidersbach and Horbach. Scientific research tends to suggest that settlements were established by individuals, groups or clans.

The area on which Hermersberg was born belonged to Queidersbach - a smaller homestead. Otto II gave this area in 987 the monastery Hornbach in Zweibrücken, which also in 989 the areas of Glanmünchweiler received.

We find a mention in the copy book of the castle Falkenstein from the year 1364 with a division of the tithe rights. Here Hermersberg and Hültzelingen were mentioned on Thursday after the salvation (March 28, 1364).

In Lehmann's work on the castles of the Palatinate can be read that Hermersberg already existed as a village in 1458 and since it is listed here as "Hermesberg", so its name says ürsprünglich originally that it was built on a mountain of a "Hermann".

Groves near Hermersberg were already documented in 1163 by the Staufer of the Cistercian abbey Eussetal for special services and the care of the treasures on the Triefels.

Also in 1496, when the bishop of Worms, Johannes von Dalberg, had his churches visited, Hermersberg and Weselberg were called zuz Hobach belonging homesteads. The small Hermersberg could not afford its own church and therefore belonged to the much earlier incurred parish Horbach.

We would like to trace this development even further back, but Hermersberg belonged to the Sickinger domain and as we know, these fled like all gentlemen with their families 1793-1794 before the advancing French revolutionary armies on the Rhine and took all files and documents of their dominion with To bathe.

I could not describe to them any unique monuments or art treasures; Hermersberg is neither the birthplace of national or international greats, nor has it ever been the site of personalities whose names have entered world history. Although some finds (graves) on our district contributed to the fact that the name Hermersberg was known in professional circles, but by and large, the history of our village is the demolition of an event without any special ups and downs. That's why the history of our homeland is so dear to me.

The Sickingerhöhe and with it also Hermersberg is in my opinion one of the most beautiful and to a large extent also history laden space (sex of the Sickinger).

Structural weakness and the proximity were in the long past, especially in the belonging to Pirmasens part of the Sickinger height a burdening mortgage of this so beautiful area.
