Ray was buried in North Platte, Nebraska. Remains were moved to cemetary in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska at a later date.

Raymond married Lois Echo Stevens daughter of Arthur L. Stevens and Atlee Love Hazlett on 7 Jun 1936 in Albion, Boone, Nebraska. Lois was born on 7 Jul 1916 in St. Edward, Boone, Nebraska. She was christened in St Edward Nebraska. She died on 19 Aug 2005 in Louisville, Nebraska. She was buried in Washington County, Nebraska.

Lois E. Paulsen, 89

Former Washington County resident Lois E. Paulsen, 89, of Louisville, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Louisville.

A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 22 at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun.

Los Echo (Stevens) Paulsen was born July 7, 1916, in St Edward. She graduated in 1936 from St Edward High School.

On June 7, 1916, she married Ray Paulsen at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Albion.

The couple farmed at Blair, Neuman Grove, and Belgrade. They later moved to Albion, where they operated a café. In 1956, they moved to Omaha, where Mrs. Paulsen was employed in the obstetrics department of the old Lutheran and Doctors hospitals.

Another move took them to Auburn, where he husband was administrator of the hospital. In 1969, they moved to Prescott, Ariz., where Mrs. Paulsen continued her work in obstetrics department at the hospital in Prescott.

Her family notes that she loved her work in the nurseries of the hospitals as a delivery room nurse. On a number of occasions, she was called upon to deliver the babies when the doctor did not arrive on time, and was very proud of her accomplishments in this regard.

In 1986, they moved to North Platte after her husband’s health declined. After his death, Mrs. Paulsen moved to Fort Calhoun, where she lived until ill health didn’t permit her to live alone.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marilyn Paulsen of Papillion, Donald Paulsen of Red Oak, Iowa; three grandchildren and their spouses; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine Otte of McGregor, Minn.

Raymond and Lois had the following children:

Elmer married Edna Schmidt. Edna was born on 16 Apr 1917. She died on 27 Jun 1972. She was buried in German Cemetery, Washington County, Nebraska.

FORMER BLAIRITE DIED IN OMAHA HOSPITAL TUESDAY

Mrs. Elmer Paulsen, a one-time resident of the Blair area, died Tuesday, June 27th at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Mrs. Paulsen, born April 16, 1917, was 55 years old. She and her husband had lived in Omaha for a number of years.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer C. Paulsen of Omaha and a son, Dennis Paulsen of Blair. There are three daughters, all living in Omaha. They are Mrs. William (Carole) Batson, Miss Nancy Paulsen and Miss Jane Paulsen. There are three grandchildren.

Two brothers, Ernest Schmidt of Craig and Harry Schmidt of Omaha survive. Four sisters are living. They are Mrs. Ferdinand Wiese, of Missouri Valley, Mrs. Ernest Schmidt of Omaha, Mrs. Max Harder of Elkhorn and Mrs. Herman Schroeder of Litchfield, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) at Kountze Memorial Church, 26th and Farnam, Omaha. Burial will be made in the German Cemetery in the south part of Washington County.
